Free Play Incorporated ("Free Play"), the super-cool, family-owned arcade chain in Dallas-Fort Worth, is excited to announce our expansion to Abilene, Texas! Within months, Free Play will be opening a new arcade location at 250 Cypress Street, Abilene, TX 79601 and bringing Downtown Abilene one of the greatest arcades in the world! Expect dozens and dozens of authentic retro arcade games, pinball machines, modern marvels, skeeball, and more. We're also bringing our award-winning bar and kitchen to deliver the awesome people of Abilene the entertainment venue of their dreams.

"As I looked toward our eventual expansion beyond DFW, I became enamoured with the concept of finding another amazing, funky, old building and turning it into a great arcade," Free Play President Corey Hyden said in one of those weird quotes that get put in press releases. "Once we discovered 250 Cypress and saw the incredible work that had already been done along with learning the history of the building, I was extremely excited. Once I visited and spent some time in Abilene, I knew we had found the next Free Play location."
 
We anticipate Free Play Abilene to be ready for beta testing in early Fall 2024. 1. What the heck is a Free Play Arcade? Back in 2015, Free Play launched its first arcade location in Richardson, TX. The concept was simple: build an arcade that everyone will love. It started with the games. We loaded the location with authentic retro arcade games and some of our favorite modern games, set them all to "Free Play", charged a reasonable "all-you-can-play" fee, and fought tirelessly to maintain uptime and quality beyond what our industry considered possible. But a great arcade needs more. So we built a craft bar and craft soda program that was beyond any in the history of our industry and created a food menu that would go on to be the most celebrated in arcade history. Nothing is an afterthought at Free Play and we believe it's one of the best entertainment venues around.
 
2. How will Free Play Abilene compare to the other Free Play locations in terms of size? Free Play Abilene will be a full-sized Free Play with 150+ games.
 
3. Why Abilene and not [insert city here]? As we work on some really big surprises for DFW, we knew we were going to expand to one of the nearby cities for our next Free Play location. When we discovered 250 Cypress and the City of Abilene, we were smitten.
 
4. What's next for Free Play? The mission remains the same. Save arcade culture for current and future generations while being a high-quality employer and a stalwart member of our communities.
 
5. Will you have [insert game here]? We hope so! Our lineups are curated, diverse, and designed to be filled with games you will recognize and games you will not. Our lineups also change with a frequency that has been called "positively insane" by the press. So, in short, maybe.
 
6. Any controversial, exceedingly nuanced arcade stances Free Play would like to take as part of this announcement? There is no better "third place" in the world than a great arcade.
